Stop 1 of 14 · Gungahlin · major stop
Gungahlin Place
Northern terminus in the Gungahlin Town Centre. This is the primary bus interchange for the northern corridor and the natural start for a City-bound ride.
Best for
Gungahlin residents, shoppers, bus transfers from surrounding suburbs, and visitors exploring the town centre before riding south to Dickson or Civic.
Access
Level boarding onto low-floor CAF Urbos vehicles. Dual platform layout (island and side). Follow tactile paving and lifts/ramps at the interchange. Allow extra time if connecting from a bus with luggage or a mobility aid.

Second stop heading south from Gungahlin Place — serves residential Gungahlin and nearby schools and community facilities along the Flemington Road corridor.

Local residents, school-run traffic and people hopping one stop into the town centre without driving.
Access
Island platform with level boarding. Surrounding footpaths are generally firm; watch for shared-path cyclists on the corridor.

Event-goers, exhibitors, race-day crowds and people attending multi-day festivals without fighting for parking.
Access
Side platforms with level boarding. Event days bring heavy foot traffic — allow extra time and follow temporary wayfinding. Surfaces around EPIC can include grass and gravel beyond the paved approaches.

Side platforms with level boarding. Interchange plazas are paved; follow signs between bus bays and light rail. Busy at weekday peaks and weekend meal times.

Major Transport Canberra bus interchange. MyWay+ transfers between bus and light rail apply within the current transfer window (typically 90 minutes — confirm officially). Natural place to change if your bus does not run into Civic.

Side platforms, level boarding. Short walk into Braddon; surfaces are urban footpaths with typical kerb ramps.

Alinga Street
Southern terminus of Stage 1 in the City centre. Primary arrival point for national institutions (via bus/walk/taxi), CBD hotels, and — once Stage 2A opens — the continuing journey toward Commonwealth Park.
Best for
City workers, hotel guests, shoppers, students, and visitors connecting to buses across Canberra. Tourist jumping-off point for the Parliamentary Triangle (further south; not on Stage 1 rails).
Access
Side platforms with level boarding. Civic footpaths are generally firm; multi-lane intersections need pedestrian signals. Construction for Stage 2A and City street upgrades can temporarily change walking routes — follow on-site detours.
Transfers
Major Transport Canberra City bus interchange around the Alinga Street / City terminus precinct. MyWay+ transfers apply between light rail and buses. Stage 2A will extend passenger service south of here when open — until then, this is the end of the line for light rail passengers.
